MEGIN extends the Product Development Team

Rasmus Zetter recently joined the MEGIN Product Development Team. He will work as a Technology Development Engineer to introduce new technologies into current and future products. He will also be supporting the growth of the MEGIN business through the identification, assessment, and development of relevant technologies.

Rasmus recently defended his PhD at Aalto University, where he worked on the development of an MEG system based on optically-pumped magnetometers (OPM) in the research group of Lauri Parkkonen. He also holds a M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, with a strong focus on neuroimaging instrumentation. Welcome to the team, Rasmus!

MEGIN Community pilot successfully completed

The MEGIN Community pilot project was completed this week. As part of this project, MEGIN gave 6 customer sites access to the platform, which contains product documentation, online training courses and self-help articles. Among other things, MEGIN Community enables the customer to ask questions and interact online with our Customer Care Team, and complete online training courses. We are pleased to report that the platform was well received by the participants of the pilot. The customers who participated agreed that the platform worked well in a variety of environments and that it would help them with their work. Overall, these customers said they would recommend Community to their colleagues and also had excellent ideas for expanding the content to serve the broader MEG community. We are committed to continuing our investment and development of MEGIN Community to expand the content and provide a tool for communication and learning. Please contact [email protected] for further information and how to become a member of the MEGIN Community.

Teen now seizure free after brain surgery using MEG Technology for pre-surgery planning at Cook Children’s in Fort Worth, Texas, USA

A fantastic case at Cook Children’s Hospital of a teen receiving life changing brain surgery and now able to live seizure free life after sixteen years of epilepsy. After reviewing the MEG results along with observations, running tests, and hundreds of pages of paperwork from the teen’s doctors over the years, Dr. M. Scott Perry, MD of Neurology and Genetic Epilepsy Clinic, was confident that he had pinpointed where the seizures were coming from. He then recommended her for epilepsy surgery. The teen was able to have her surgery and fly home two days later.

Global MEG Research Studies

Investigating the neural processing of food in Anorexia Nervosa by Oxford Centre for Human Brain Activity

An incredibly interesting MEG study conducted by Sven Braeutigam and his talented team at OHBA, a MEGIN TRIUX™ neo user, investigating the neural processing of food in anorexia nervosa (AN).

A Graph Gaussian Embedding Method for Predicting Alzheimer’s Disease Progression with MEG Brain Networks

Characterizing the subtle changes of functional brain networks associated with the pathological cascade of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is important for early diagnosis and prediction of disease progression prior to clinical symptoms. A collaboration of CTB and MIT who used MG2G to detect the intrinsic latent dimensionality of MEG brain networks, predicting the progression of patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to AD, and identifying brain regions with network alterations related to MCI. Local and large-scale beta oscillatory dysfunction in males with mild traumatic brain injury

Identifying a concussion can be difficult using conventional tests and screeners. The Hospital for Sick Kids Research in Toronto, Canada, has found an innovative approach to measuring brain function to more accurately identify those who have had a concussion using MEG.
