HELSINKI, FINLAND (March 4, 2021) – MEGIN is delighted to support Boys Town National Research Hospital® in Nebraska in their journey to revolutionize child and teen brain research at the new Institute for Human Neuroscience. The Institute will be a brand-new 15,000+ square foot research facility specifically built for this group of researchers and their state-of-the-art equipment.
When the facility opens this month, it will be one of the most cutting-edge neuroscience research facilities in the nation, and include two next-generation MEG (magnetoencephalography) systems, and other trailblazing instruments for human neuroscience research. “We will be the only site in the world with two next-generation MEGIN Neo systems,” said Tony Wilson, Ph.D., Director of the Institute for Human Neuroscience.
The Institute will house up to ten different laboratories. Each of these labs will focus on different sub-areas of human neuroscience using different modalities, one being MEG and other advanced methods. Each of the laboratories will function independently, studying different disorders, different populations, and different therapeutics. Dr Wilson estimates that the Institute will house between 100 to 120 researchers conducting neuroscience studies when fully operational.
One of the main reasons, Dr Tony Wilson and his team came to Boys Town was the opportunity to build an incredible institute in an amazing environment. With two MEGIN MEG systems installed the Institute of Neuroscience at Boys Town will have twice the capacity for major discoveries in pediatric neuroscience and neurotherapeutics and be able to directly impact the lives of children and families.
The TRIUX™ neo provides access to patients for the most precise information currently available on the market for functional brain mapping. MEG is a highly sensitive technology that can accurately detect and localize neural events that are generated in the brain with millimeter accuracy and millisecond resolution. It is completely silent and non-invasive, making the experience very well tolerated by children.
”We are ecstatic to contribute to this cutting-edge neuroscience facility at Boys Town National Research Hospital. To be able to engage with such a prestigious Neuroscience Center and support their invaluable developments in neuroscience research is very rewarding for MEGIN.” concluded John Fulford, Managing Director, MEGIN OY.
MEGIN is a neuroscience technology company based in Helsinki, Finland. The company is focused on developing innovative solutions for functional brain mapping for the presurgical evaluation of epilepsy, brain tumors or other lesions of the brain. For over 30 years, MEGIN has been the global leader in magnetoencephalography (MEG) technology and launched in 2018 the fourth-generation MEG system, TRIUX™ neo. The TRIUX™ neo provides a non-invasive, real-time view of patient-specific neural activity with millimeter accuracy and millisecond resolution, providing the most precise information currently available on the market.
